Smazogz Poems V

VISIONARY GONE BERSERK

©SmAzogZ

TOO MUCH INFORMATION HAS BEEN STUDIED ! ! !

A LOGICAL CONCLUSION CAN NOT EVER BE REACHED ! ! ! !

THE IMAGES OF PERFECTION WHICH YOU WISH TO BE ! ! ! !

ARE ALL, I’M AFRAID, JUST CAPTIONS OF WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE ! ! ! !

Its Valentine’s Day

Hurray, hurray

When lovers kisses take them into dream worlds of play

War takes a vacation

On this sacred day

Appreciate our beating hearts instead

It is the only way

Put down your implements of destruction

Celebrate, placidly function

Forget about your grievances

How many of them are actually yours to worry about anyway?

Theres plenty of time to worry about that the rest of the year

Now is not the time of obliteration or exclusion

Now is the time to hold close to you the things you hold dear

Matters need not be complicated

Into the banqueting love of Valentine we all disappear

Where sight and vision is unhindered

This is what we should portray highest

No matter the time of the year

Kiss your Valentines lips. Red, inviting and crystal clear

Let the whole world around you hear

Because

Its Valentines day

Hurray, Hurray

VIKING SKIES

In a multi-coloured sky

Contrasts far from blue

Stand on a wooden Viking ship

Weary the studious crew

Sun sets into the distance

Under-shades of darkening orangey red

Swan headed beacon

Curved, crafted like wood

By the gentle coaxing of the seabed

The normally yellow orb shines indefinitely

Yet not in our eyes

Our boat is not fast enough

To keep up with the sunset ~ or the sunrise.

Purple clouds seem eerily hallucinogenic

An arranged confusion of colour, abstractly photogenic

From there ~ at the end of the pier

Standing with my thoughts I coalesce

Temperature drops as evening sets in

Jumper on

From this sight I simply cannot digress

This poem expresses my opinion for the painting entitled "Across the bay" from an exhibition of artwork as drawn by Mark Burrell which was on display at the Sea Change Gallery in March 2003.
